Setting Realistic Goals

Setting goals is what motivates us to push ourselves to get to where we want to be in life.

It’s normal, however, that when pursuing our goals we fail many times along the way, and sometimes things don’t work out the way that we expect them to.

This often makes us wonder if we even have what it takes to succeed.

How can you set realistic goals that will allow you to see results, without setting yourself up for disappointment?

Setting high-reaching goals and then failing to achieve them can lower our confidence and leave us feeling too intimidated to push ourselves to reach any new goals.

It’s important that, when you’re looking to achieve real change, you start by setting realistic goals for yourself in life… goals that you can actually achieve.

This will, in turn, motivate you to push yourself to bigger and better things.

The more realistic goals you set and achieve, the greater your confidence in yourself and your abilities will be!

Try getting a journal and writing down that “big goal” you have for your life.

Now, make smaller goals that you can achieve on your path to the “big one.”

This may take a bit of research. For example, if your goal is to lose weight, experts recommend losing one to two pounds a week for a more healthy and long-term weight loss.

Knowing this will help you to better set a goal in mind and give you a realistic plan to achieve it.

Break your goal down into manageable pieces… after all, the only way to eat an elephant is one bite at a time!

Small, achievable goals form the path you’ll take to reach the bigger goal. Illuminate the 3 feet in front of you, and then celebrate your success with each accomplishment.

Every small goal you reach gives you confidence that you’ll reach the next one…

And before you know it, you’ll be standing at the finish line!
